Learning Coaching:
Combining the Best Practices of Coaching and Teaching
By combining the best practices of coaching and teaching I am able to guide students on their learning journey to become confident, independent learners. Every learning coaching session integrates study skills to add to a student’s toolbox using content level material. As a certified teacher, I am knowledgeable about the scope and sequence of the curriculum particularly math and reading using a multi-sensory approach from elementary through grade 12 in courses such as algebra, geometry and pre-calculus. In addition I have specific training in Wilson and other reading methods to help struggling readers. Students find confidence and build on success as they:
- Learn about themselves as learners
- Receive personalized content level instruction
- Add to their study skills and resiliency toolbox
- Have positive interactions and success with their Learning Coach
- Build confidence
- Apply lessons to other content areas and daily life

A Few Kind Words
We are proud to share these testimonials, Additional references available upon request.
The difference is that in working alongside your child/young adult we have intimate knowledge of the common core, teaching methods used in class at elementary and secondary levels, a deep understanding of content area, and a knowledge of how students learn. We also have experience in remote learning and can support learners in this process. All of this works together to help grow independent learners who reach their potential.
Lauren has been amazing at not only helping my son with his learning—meeting him where he is and teaching in a way that is fun, but has been an awesome resource for my son and I in figuring out how to navigate the schools and the path that would be most helpful. She has also worked with our older son with SAT prep and college essays, and we can’t say enough good things!!! Highly recommend!!!
We have been working with Lauren for almost a year. It’s been a WISE investment for our family! Her expertise in a variety of subject areas, developing study skills, motivating high schoolers, and familiarity with the local high school teachers/curriculum has made a remarkable difference for us. We look forward to her emails that follow up each student session. Highly Recommend!
Lauren Rand is someone you want on your child’s team. She is knowledgeable, experienced, resourceful, hardworking, and creative. Lauren comes to know each child as an individual and finds unique ways to engage, motivate and challenge them. She has made a big impact on our son and his growth.
I wanted to reach out to tell you how fantastic my son is doing in school this year! It has been a complete 180 from previous years!!! Just amazing transformation! You were so instrumental in his development. I plan to have him do a refresher with you next summer.
Lauren Rand has gone above and beyond to assist me and it means a lot to me. From meetings at school to making sure that the proper and necessary accommodations were in place. Lauren has been my advocate which has empowered me to improve my learning, study skills and grades. I don’t know what I do without her.
Since last year, Lauren has also been able to push my son out of his comfort zone in a manner where he challenges himself to achieve higher standards. he now better understands what kind of learner he is, and he attributes his success to Lauren, and so do we. I asked him why he thinks Lauren is “the best teacher ever.” His response is, “Mom, she just gets me. She knows what I am capable of and doesn’t let me do anything less. I just don’t want to let her down.”
*Important Announcements Impacting Payments
The recent Law passed by Congress and signed into law on July 4th will allow for 529 accounts to be used for an expanded number of “qualified expenses” for K-12 education students. These can include non-tuition costs such as:
- Curriculum materials
- Fees for nationally standardized tests
- Books and other instructional materials
- Dual-enrollment fees for college courses taken in high school
- Online educational materials
- Tutoring or educational classes outside the home
- Specialized strategies designed to support students with disabilities
This important change allows parents the option to choose to use 529 monies towards my learning coaching services. As with any financial decision I encourage you to discuss this with your financial advisor.
